AI visibility tools: what each one measures

An AI visibility tool runs a set of prompts through AI engines on a schedule and records whether your brand is mentioned, recommended or cited, and which sources the answers use. This directory lists ten tools, what each measures and which engines it covers, taken from each vendor's own pages.

Every row taken from the vendor's own website on 9 October 2026 (pricing pages, except Semrush (help centre), SE Visible (home page), Ahrefs and BrightEdge (product pages)). Prices are the vendor's published monthly list price and change often; check the source before you buy. SearchIntel is an advisory firm, not a tool vendor. We have no commercial relationship with any company listed and use no affiliate links.

What does an AI visibility tool actually measure?

Mostly three things: whether your brand appears in an answer (a mention), whether a page of yours is used as a source (a citation), and how often you appear compared with competitors (share of voice). Some tools add sentiment, prompt volumes or traffic from AI assistants.

Which tools track mentions, and which track citations?

All ten describe tracking brand visibility and some form of citation or source data; the table shows each vendor's own description. Being able to see the sources behind each answer matters, because the sources are what you can change.

When is a tool enough, and when do you need analysis?

A tool is enough when you have someone who will read it every week and knows what to do with it. It is not enough when the question is why AI chooses a competitor and what to change first. That needs someone to read the answers, trace the sources and turn them into priorities. That is the work we do. (Our view, as an advisory firm.)
